Jennifer “Lay Lay” Thomas

Jennifer “Lay Lay” Thomas is a 13-year-old eighth-grade student at Ferriday Junior High School and a proud athlete representing RADL Track Club. She is a hardworking, dedicated competitor, a fast learner, and is always striving to improve with every race and jump.
Jennifer loves track and field because of its high level of competition and the opportunity to challenge herself. Her favorite event is the triple jump, where she has already achieved remarkable success.
At the 2026 AAU Junior Olympic Games in Des Moines, Iowa, Jennifer recorded a personal-best jump of 34 feet, 3 inches. That performance earned her the AAU Junior Olympic silver medal and a second-place finish in the nation in the 13-year-old girls’ triple jump.
Jennifer’s athletic range extends beyond the triple jump. She has also recorded personal bests of 13.53 seconds in the 100 meters, 27.88 seconds in the 200 meters, and 15 feet in the long jump.
Her goal is to jump 36 to 37 feet or farther by the end of her junior high career and 40 to 45 feet or farther by the end of her senior year. Her ultimate dream is to compete in the Olympic Games as a triple jumper, representing her community and inspiring others through her dedication, perseverance, and passion for the sport.
With determination, discipline, and a strong work ethic, Jennifer continues to prove that hard work and belief in yourself can lead to extraordinary achievements.

Coach Jackson’s Perspective
“At only 13 years old, Jennifer ‘Lay Lay’ Thomas already shows the consistency and dedication that coaches value. She shows up for practice, is eager to learn, and puts in the work to improve. Her range of athletic abilities, combined with her discipline and competitive spirit, gives her tremendous potential in the triple jump.
I believe Lay Lay has what it takes to develop into one of the future greats in this event.
